Remember how the passionate lover Romeo in Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’ climbed the garden wall to win over his beloved, Juliet? Well, we found a 21st-century lover who outdid Romeo. A love-struck teenager went all out to win back the heart of the woman he was madly in love with. But his attempt to persuade the young lady seems to have gotten a little out of hand.
According to BBC, an 18-year-old broke into a German detention centre using a lamp post to scale the 4-meter (13-feet) barbed prison wall. He apparently did all this to win back his jailed girlfriend,18, who recently broke up with him over a phone call.
A spokesperson for the youth prison said, “The spurned young man was desperate to persuade his ex to change her mind. He managed to reach the barred window of his ex-girlfriend’s cell on the first floor.” He further added that it wasn’t clear why he went on to climb the wall and didn’t book a prison visit instead. The young man managed to climb up to the prison inmate’s window when the jail authorities spotted him.
Sources revealed that he was discovered naked by the jail authorities. He apparently removed most of his clothes to avoid getting stuck in the wired walls. The young man, however, denied coming down from the wall and had to be brought down by the firefighters using an extendable ladder. The young man suffered minor injuries in the process.
Although the new-age Romeo went above and beyond to impress his girlfriend, it is still unclear whether he was able to convince his girlfriend or not. Well, we hope both of them can sort their differences out since he is being investigated for trespassing and having unauthorised contact with prisoners.
