Unapologetically real and unafraid to voice her opinions, Swara Bhasker has never been the one to shut herself from expressing her views because of online trolling. From gender issues, female sexuality, to politics, Swara has raised her voice against the unjust and has spread awareness of that which needed immediate attention.
And now with the recent series of mob lynching, cases of which have been making headlines almost every day, Swara has decided to take a stand. The story of Tabrez Ansari, the victim of a recent act of lynching in Jharkhand, has sent shockwaves throughout the nation and Swara wasn’t one to remain silent about the issue.
She took to Twitter to announce a candlelight march in support of Tabrez Ansari, strongly condemning the “lynching terror” which captures our nation today.
One more lynched to death in the name of our God!!! #Lynchistaan Nahi banengey! Get on the streets in #Delhi tomorrow, 26th June, 5 pm. Candle light vigil for #TabrezAnsari #IndiaAgainstLynchTerror at #JantarMantar

However, one just had to troll her unnecessarily. What’s shocking is that the troll was an IPS officer. Here’s what he said:

This tweet didn’t go unnoticed by her and she soon gave a fitting response to the officer. She said how being “selective” is something she can afford to do owing to her profession. But if a man holding significant power of the state turns a blind eye to the victims of lynching, then we have a problem.
Sir.. main actress hoon. My being ‘selective’ or not doesn’t harm anyone. You are an IPS officer, you are supposed to be an instrument of legitimate State power, a force of good- YOUR BEING SELECTIVE damages the very fabric of our nation & leads to horrors like #TabrezAnsari (1) https://t.co/Rmb4Tc46Zk

Admiration came her way and the actress received a lot of messages supporting her. However, there were many others who opposed her view stating that a popular celebrity has the power to be heard, hence her being selective might just be harmful.
Very well said Swara. And very true.

Please dont under value yourself Swara. As an actress, you have the power to reach out to people & make a difference & you are doing that. You being selective increases religious division and harms the society. You may not have a legal responsibility but moral, surely you do.

U too a Citizen of India, u can't support the culprits by misleading their crimes and encourage their community to do more such crimes, being an actress is not great but living socially is also important. Btw what lead role u do?Rather a paid side role for some adult scene?

Ma'am when a privileged actress who has the medium/education/voice to bring a positive change decides to use these tools for her own benefit and decided to be selective and degrades her own country, it does harm 🙏
