75-Year-Old Man Runs 75 Marathons In 75 Days And Proves Facebook Wrong, Who Felt It Was “Unrealistic”

On the top of all inspirational stories in the world, here is the story of a granddad who ran, I quote, “75 marathons in 75 days”. He finished what seemed like implausible task this Wednesday and proved all those who doubted him wrong.

With a sky-high spirit, Ray Matthews is a 75-year-old gentleman from Rotherham in South Yorkshire. He wanted to construct a soft playground with specialist equipment for a special needs school, Newman in Rotherham and thus he took on the task of running 75 marathons in just 75 days.

Ray was very positive that he would do it, although a lot of people doubted him and also thought that raising £ 75,000 was perfectly absurd. Against all odds, Ray ran most of his Marathons around his hometown and was joined by Rotherham United football team in his mission too.

Ray is a former professional boxer and owner of a steel construction company. He says that none of the marathons was easy but “but generally better that I had expected.”pay-ray-mitchell-1

He started running in July, after his 75th birthday and has been one great sport. For staying healthy, he had to consume 6000 calories every day.

When he tried to create an advert on Facebook for £12, he was rejected by saying that Facebook’s ad policies are being violated by “an unrealistic or unlikely claim”.pay-ray-mitchell

Ray Mathews says that being rejected by Facebook has kept him more inspired and helped him complete his task better because there was a lot of money he had to collect.

People in his hometown love him, Ray is a hero. He is now planning a vacation someplace warm with his wife Maureen (74). And he aspires to hit on a more difficult task after he is back.
