SRK’s Old Tweets Prove He Rooted For South Indian Films Way Before It Was An Online Trend

With Tamil, Telugu and Kannada films receiving global recognition, you will find several Bollywood celebrities congratulating and rooting for the film industries down south. Especially after yesterday, when the film ‘RRR’ received a Golden Globe Award for its song ‘Naatu Naatu’, it was made clear that South Indian film industries are the ones who are making the kind of content that can put Indian cinema on the global map.

Out of the many celebrities that showered the ‘RRR’ team with congratulatory messages, Shahrukh Khan was one. After filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli praised the trailer for ‘Pathaan’, SRK tweeted that he celebrated the team’s Golden Globe moment by dancing to ‘Naatu Naatu’ early in the morning.

He also tweeted to Ram Charan, who was the lead actor in the film, and with immense humility requested that he may be allowed to touch the Oscar award if and when the ‘RRR’ team brings it to India. For those who do not know, ‘RRR’ has been shortlisted in the Best Original Song category at the upcoming Oscars, reported Indian Express.

Amidst all this, a Twitter user @StarkAditya_ pointed out that SRK might just be the only mainstream actor who advocated for ‘RRR’ to be pitched to the Oscars.

Not just that. Another user @itzzrashmi shared screenshots wherein we see SRK openly supporting South Indian films like ‘Baahubali’ and ‘Makkhi’ way back in 2015 and 2012, respectively, when supporting films from down south hadn’t become such an online ‘trend’.

At a time when actors seldom support each other’s films because of cut-throat competition, this is refreshing to see!
