Shah Rukh Khan needs no introduction. From being top at his craft to wooing the populace with his larger-than-life persona, SRK is a star, they don’t make that often. Also known as the ‘Badshah of Bollywood’, there is no soul on earth, I bet, who can challenge his reigns. This aura of infectious charm and confidence, however, took a number of hits and awards to surface.
But let’s admit it, although we rooted for him, playing a hero, saving the heroine, there was something magical when he played the shady villain. While we called it gutsy, SRK had something else to say.
In a recent interview with NDTV, Shah Rukh opened up and revealed a secret about his 25-year-old decisions of signing films like ‘Baazigar’ and ‘Darr’ early in his career.
“The reasons I agreed to do roles which the other guys were saying no to (for whatever their mindset was), was because I thought I’m not good-looking enough to be a hero, so let me just get a villain’s job.”
“I didn’t do it because I was gutsy or because I knew I could pull it off, I’m such a great actor.”
Apparently, SRK also had a director (who he refused to name) who told him that he was ‘ordinary and ugly looking and I can use you for anything.’
Who would have thought? I don’t know about you but I need some time to digest this!
