Son Comes Back To Mumbai From The U.S. To Visit Mother, Finds Her Skeleton In Flat.

Mother-Skeleton

When you go home after a really long time, you are excited to meet your family, sit down and talk with them and relive the bond you share. But, Mumbai-based U.S. resident came home to a sight he wouldn’t ever forget.

Rituraj Sahani, an Indian engineer working in the U.S. since 1997, reached 63-year-old mother’s Oshiwara flat only to find her skeleton lying in the bedroom.

When no one was answering the door, Sahani entered the apartment with the help of a keymaker.

From the decomposed state, the police believe that she must’ve passed away at least a few weeks ago. The neighbours didn’t suspect anything odd or sense a foul smell, but the investigation is on.

“In the bedroom, Rituraj found the body of his mother, which had decomposed to such an extent that only her skeleton remained. We suspect she must have passed away at least a few weeks ago.”

Senior inspector of Oshiwara police station, Subhash Khanvilkar, told Indian Express,

“Asha K Sahani had been staying alone at her 10th floor residence in Wells Cot society in Andheri’s Lokhandwala area since her husband died in 2013. Their son Rituraj, an engineer, had moved to the US in 1997. The last conversation between the mother and son took place in April 2016. At that point, Sahani had told him that she felt lonely. She had also asked him to get her into an old-age home.

Both the flats on the 10th floor belonged to the Sahanis, hence, no one could suspect anything wrong. Time of death can be assessed only after post-mortem.

This is so sad. And what is even sadder is that he didn’t speak to his own mother for over a year, despite her mention of feeling lonely. How can some kids still abandon their own parents? That’s a pressing question we all need to ask.
