After Being Assaulted, Bhansali Wrote A Letter To Rajputs To Ensure He’s Not Slapped Again

An unheard of political group called Karni Sena in Rajasthan took it upon themselves to discipline Sanjay Leela Bhansali for “defaming” Rani Padmini and hurting the Rajput pride.

Just FYI – The movie has not even released a trailer or any part of their script was leaked. Even then, for some outlandish reason the goons came to the movie set and did what any fringe political group does best – they damaged private property, assaulted crew members and shouted slogans laced with the choicest of gaalis.

And in the process recognised director Sanjay Leela Bhansali was slapped, his hair was pulled before his team escorted him away to safety.

The team still has to shoot in Rajasthan and the only way they can do this is to give in to the political group that came and beat them up.

And that brings us to the current development. SLB’s production house wrote a letter to the Rajput Sabha to tell them that there is no dream sequence in which Rani Padmini romances with Alauddin Khilji.

To be fair to the Shree Rajput Sabha, they did send a notice to SLB last year in September telling him that the movie should be historically accurate.

But they could at least wait until they saw an uncut version before resorting to violence. And keep in mind that these are the same people who want to “protect” Rani Padmini’s image while shouting ‘bhenchod’ and ‘madarchod’.

There are no leaked scenes, no leaked script and yet they came and vandalised the sets. It is completely uncalled for.

This is another case in which a person from Bollywood had to give in to a political group that specialises in violence. When will people learn the meaning of creative freedom?

Sigh.
