Specially-Abled Sister Blessing Her Brother On Bhai Dooj Is Making The Internet Cry With Joy

The festival of Bhai Dooj, more commonly known as Bhai Phonta in Kolkata, is an auspicious occasion for siblings to further strengthen their bond. Celebrated on the second day after Diwali, this festival is all about sisters praying for their brothers’ well-being and both exchanging gifts with each other.

While most of us take such traditions for granted, thinking “Oh well, didn’t we do this on Rakshabandhan too?” and think of it as just another day off work, there are still some who go to great lengths to uphold the sanctity of these rituals.

This is the story of once such sister.

On October 21st, the occasion of Bhai Dooj, a brother shared a heartwarming picture of him and his sister celebrating the festival. What’s so amazing about it, you ask? Well, see for yourself.

The picture was one of four shared by Samrat Basu, the brother, on his Facebook wall, and is now going viral for all the right reasons.

The photos, taken at a house in Hooghly-Chinchura, show the sister, who is confined to a wheelchair and does not have the use of her hands, apply tilak on her beloved brother’s forehead with her little toe instead!

And there she is, the loving Didi blessing her brother with all her heart as the rest of the family looks on with tears in their eyes!

If you’ve been choking back sobs all this while, here’s just one more endearing picture you have got to see.

Look at the sister, all smiles at having accomplished this feat, and the family members, proud to have witnessed this heartwarming exchange of love between the siblings!

The Facebook post has garnered much love and appreciation from everyone on Samrat’s friends’ list. People have also been sharing it on their timelines, and as expected, have made the post go viral on Facebook and Twitter as well.

And why wouldn’t there be so much love? After all, it’s not everyday you see such a heart-touching display of strength and affection in one powerful photo! The comments on Samrat’s post alone stand testament to how amazing the visual is.

We all have our shortcomings: some more outwardly and evident; others hidden and latent. But it’s how we continue living our lives despite them that shows the world who we truly are.

May their bond stay intact for as long they live! Sending tons of blessings and good vibes to the siblings!
