Shikha Joshi, Actress Of B.A.Pass Movie Commits Suicide Due To Depression

“Did you really want to die?”
“No one commits suicide because they want to die.”
“Then why do they do it?”
“Because they want to stop the pain…”

Suicide has become so prevalent nowadays. So much that every time we read our usual morning newspaper with our cup of tea, there is bound to be an article covering that. Teens, housewives, bachelors, you name it.  It’s a raging river of self-destruction. Suicide evokes an astonishingly wide range of reactions—bafflement, dismissal, heroic glorification, sympathy, anger, moral or religious condemnation—but it is never uncontroversial. And then there is Bollywood. It has witnessed its own share of suicides, which is again, very sad.

Shikha Joshi, popularly known as the “B.A. Pass actress”, killed herself by slitting her throat at her Mhada flat in Versoa on Saturday evening.It is mysteriously shocking, and the post mortem report is yet to tell the truth. Until then, the police are considering it a suicide.

 

DCP Satya Narayan Chaudhary said,” The incident took place around 6 PM. Joshi would stay in the flat with her friend. She went into the bathroom and cut her throat open with a sharp object. When she did not open the door for a long time, her friend knocked on the door and Joshi opened it. However, she collapsed immediately due to excessive bleeding.” She was rushed to Kokilaben Hospital in Andheri, where she was pronounced dead.”

 

Background Check:

Though born and brought up in Delhi, Shikha went to Mumbai in search of a career in the Bollywood Industry. She has been in Mumbai for the past eight years and has worked as a Model for a few photo shoots and advertisements. Shikha has also acted in a few TV serials.

It seems that the poor woman did not fare well in that sector, and her career did not get as big as she expected. The “ actress moved in with her friend, Madhu Bharti, just a few months back, and she is survived by her brother and a 19-year-old daughter, who lives with her grandparents. Her marital status is undefined.

 

 The controversy:

On November 10, 2013, the Amboli police had arrested Shikha and her brother for pelting stones at the residence of cosmetic surgeon, Dr Vijay Sharma in Andheri. Before her arrest, she had filed a molestation complaint against the doctor in 2011.

Could that be the reason of her suicide? We can only wonder.

 

The Case Situation:

The Mumbai Police says that they have not found any  suicide note, but the knife which the actress used to kill herself has been seized. Until any further clues are found, the case will be treated as a suicide. But Shikha Joshi’s brother says that something else could have happened. Shikha’s brother arrived in Mumbai and claimed her body.

Following your passion for acting is not a bad thing to do. But, Bollywood is filled with such stories of suicide where people have failed to survive in the silver screen.

Shikha’s friend, Shilpa Shukla, who played the lead in “B.A. Pass”, has also conveyed her condolences.

May her soul rest in peace.
