He Fell In Love With A Sex Worker, Rescued Her From A Brothel And Is All Set To Marry Her

Sex-Worker-Rescued

Love happens.

Nope, I am not just talking about the movie here guys, but about the general feeling of falling hard for someone under the most unexpected circumstances. Something similar happened to this Delhi couple.

They met in a small room in Delhi’s Garstin Bastion aka GB Road. She was a sex worker and he was a prospective client. The two met and fell in love over the many meetings that happened in the brothel he visited in the guise of a customer. They wanted to elope and marry, and they envisioned a life together.

27-year-old Nepali woman, Shubhi met 28-year-old Sagar, a local from Sadar Bazar (names changed) two years ago and love blossomed. But, after failed attempts of escape, the man took help from Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) and rescued her on Thursday.

A senior officer of DCW told India Today how the couple would be protected against the elements from her past life and from those who’d try to defame her in any way.

“We got this call a few days ago from a man who said he is in love with a woman from GB Road. He informed us that she is in Brothel no. 68 and keen on leaving this profession and coming along with him. She was from a very poor family and lost everything. Due to lack of food and livelihood, she had come to Delhi and someone sold her at GB Road.”

Shubhi came to India in 2015 after the disastrous Nepal earthquake to seek livelihood but was tricked into prostitution. Sadly, millions of girls are pushed into prostitution in India, some are sold by their families, some are tricked, while some are trafficked.

Now, that she’s been rescued, marriage is on the cards. Sagar, who is a driver, has already convinced his family and the two would soon tie the knot.

Delhi’s GB Road is one of the biggest red light areas in the city and it has close to 93 brothels and 3500 sex workers. It runs parallel the railway line near New Delhi Railway Station from Ajmeri Gate to Lahori Gate.
