Senegal began their FIFA World Cup journey on Tuesday when they locked horns against Poland, a team which was being considered the firm favorite in the tie. Led by skipper and Liverpool star Sadio Mane, Senegal marked their return to the grandest stage of all by defeating the European side 2-1.
Though the first goal for the Africans came through a deflected strike which was later declared as an own goal, they kept their composure and character to double the lead in the 60th minute. And with the win, Senegal became the first African team in the 2018 FIFA World Cup to earn a victory for themselves. Wow!
Needless to say, crazy celebrations followed. We got to see those cheeky African dance moves near the touchline which sent the fans into a frenzy.
Apart from the brilliant performance by the Senegalese players on the field, there was another act which caught media attention, and this time from the fans. The Senegalese fans took it upon themselves to clean the mess they had created while celebrating the epic victory.
