Throughout his filmography, Guillermo del Toro has showcased his love for gothic tales with movies like ‘Pan’s Labyrinth’, ‘Cronos’, ‘Crimson Peak’ and ‘The Devil’s Backbone’. And now he has combined his twisted, dark imaginations with the directorial brilliance of André Øvredal (‘The Autopsy of Jane Doe’) to adapt the acclaimed book, ‘Scary Stories To Tell in the Dark’.
After shelling out some bone-chilling snippets, CBS Films has finally dropped the teaser trailer for ‘Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark’. And, to be honest, things don’t look good for the teens of Mill Valley.
The trailer opens with a few high-schoolers (in 1968) coming across the book of Sarah Bellows, which they start reading with great interest. That apparently allows the monsters, ghouls and spirits trapped in Sarah’s demented stories to come out into the real world. There’s a ‘Final Destination’ vibe to it as well because one of the kids points out that the demons are following a pattern. And, trust me when I say this, there’s nothing scarier than a countdown to death.
Check out the trailer here:
Netizens are spooked by the gnarly creatures that Øvredal and del Toro has brought to life. But they can’t wait to see them gobble up some teenagers.
So the angle for this adaptation is Neverending Story meets Haunted Mansion. Dig it. Love that horror for younger folks is coming back in a big way. https://t.co/Zu5ml8lD7P

15 years since I read the first book and "The Dream" still freaks me the F out & it's not even as gruesome and gross as the other stories.
Guillermo del Toro is a genius and has never let me down – I can't wait!!! https://t.co/1We0Ag2d9I

I haven’t read the original book. But given how I’m a huge fan of horror and Guillermo del Toro, I am hugely interested to see what new ways he has found to make scream in terror with ‘Scary Stories To Tell in the Dark’. What are your thoughts on the teaser trailer? Let us know in the comments.
