What would you do if you were stuck in an unknown place, without fuel or calling facility and just enough internet pack to pass the time? If any of us were asked that question, the last thing on our mind would be to open a dating app. But… this travel blogger did the exact opposite and fate had a surprise waiting.
23-year-old Rohith Subramaniam, a travel blogger who goes by the handle misfit magellan on Instagram, has been covering some serious ground on his Royal Enfield, but bad luck struck him when he was denied entry into Croatia because of his unkempt appearance.
As he was returning to the road, he forgot to refill his fuel tank and was stuck on the highway at around 10 pm, without calling facility on his phone, just the empty road and his data pack to pass the time.
The closest gas station was miles away and there was no way he could get there. He made an SOS call to road assistance and was told that they would take an hour to reach where he was.
Dejected he sat on a rock, plugged in his earphones and opened Tinder. Although he didn’t go on it to seek help, fate had other plans for him
Reminiscing his unusual experience, he told Mid-day over email,
He repaid the favour by asking her out on dinner the next day. Turns out both of them have a mutual love for travel. He helped her plan out the best possible routes for her travel to Vietnam and connected her to his friends there. He even took her on a bike ride as it was the reason they met in the first place. They have been in touch ever since!
I don’t know about you, but to me, this seems like something straight out of a romantic novel or a movie. Travelling solo definitely has its perks!
