‘Humma Humma’ Original Singer, Remo Fernandes Slams The Remix Calling It An ‘Uninspired Job’

You remember the day, makers of the upcoming film ‘Ok Jaanu’ decided to drop the bomb of a recooked masala-ized version of the classic ‘Humma Humma’ on us? Yes, the same day that divided the entire nation giving trolls and Twitterati a field day, trashing the new song starring Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapoor.

Apparently, the song can’t seem to catch a break!

Now, according to a report in Mid day, the original singer of the 90’s song, Remo Fernandes has come out in the open and slammed the remixed version downright.

“There is nothing wrong in doing new versions of existing songs, as long as one brings something new to the table. It can be something plus, or at least something different. This version of Humma Humma, I am afraid, brings neither.”

Remo went on to express his angst, that the rendition is a work in a hurry and said,

“It is but a pale, insipid version of the original. Vocally, instrumentally and arrangements-wise, it seems to be a hurried, uninspired job.”

However, Tanishk who has sung the new track along with Jubin Nautiyal and Badshah has defended the remake and termed it as a tribute to the legendary composer, A. R. Rahman.

“Rahman sir has always been an inspiration, so for me, it was a chance to work with him (Rahman is the film composer). He suggested that Badshah and I work on the song since he knew we would bring a new flavour to it.”

After all the brickbats, wonder when Rahman will break his silence!
