There is this running joke amongst people that chips packets are 99% air and 1% product. But it’s a joke, right? No one really takes it seriously. There was a time when a Rs 10 chips packet was enough for a snack. I used to eat half during the day and keep the rest for the evening. Because there was enough quantity to suffice. This was about 10-15 years back.
Funnily, the prices of chips packets haven’t increased, unlike most things. But the quantity has decreased drastically.
A user (u/dusttillnoon) on Reddit’s r/india subreddit shared very detailed pictures of the contents of a Kurkure chips packet. The actual quantity of chips inside this large packet is breaking my heart and I’m losing faith in humanity.
The Redditor went on to weigh the product and the result is 24 grams. There’s a mere 24 grams of chips in that large packet. The rest is filled with air.
To be fair, the packet mentions that there’s more than 20 grams of product in the packet.
Basically, nowadays, the quantity of chips in the Rs 10 packet is the same as the quantity that was found in a Rs 5 packet back in the day.
