Yes, this year has been difficult for all of us in different ways. But it’s been harder for many people in comparison to the rest. While some were lucky enough to still have their jobs, have basic essentials at home, and could stay indoors, an overwhelming number of people didn’t even have a roof over their heads to take shelter in.
This has made us realise how privileged many of us are and the most basic thing we can do is acknowledge it. For example, Ranbir Kapoor in a recent interview with Rajeev Masand acknowledged his privilege and took a step back from answering how hard lockdown was for him because there were many others who faced harder circumstances.
Rajeev Masand asked, “What did you miss the most in a year which had restrictions around many things?”
Ranbir answered, “To be honest, I’m quite a homebody and I’m quite in the privileged category. So I could sit at home and just be. I didn’t have anything to worry about. I think it’s a very unfair question for me to answer because it’s been a terrible time for people. It’s probably been the worst the world has seen in a long time. I can go on and talk about how I was doing this and I was doing that, but I think it won’t sound right.”

At a time when much of the entertainment industry is conflicted, it is indeed good to see an actor with a massive fan-following be responsible and respectful in what he says in a public platform.
