Let’s cut to the chase. All you Indian gaming geeks waiting for the launch of PlayStation 5, we have sad news for you. Japanese multinational conglomerate Sony is set to launch PlayStation 5 on November 12 worldwide, however, people in India might have to wait a little longer to grab the latest edition of the gaming console all because of a ‘prankster’ from Delhi.

Well, apparently a Delhi man named Hitesh Aswani holds the trademark rights for ‘PS5’ which has become a hindrance for the company and has delayed the launch of the product in India, reports News18.
A guy from Delhi trademarked PS5 in India before Sony could. 😐

Hitesh reportedly filed the trademark for the name three months before Sony could, back on October 29, 2019 as per government website. Sony applied for the trademark on February 28, 2020. Currently, the status of the trade mark reads ‘opposed’ on the official website.
As soon as the news made it to social media, it irked several gamers eagerly waiting for the launch of the next-gen gaming console in India. Here’s how they reacted:
So I am hearing some idiot Delhi guy bought the trademark for PS5 in India before Sony did and that's the reason for the setback? This guy doesn't even know the wrath indian gamers will send his way.. Would have been nice to know it officially from Sony that's for sure. #PS5India https://t.co/gcUwzZ6KRo pic.twitter.com/cNmj2k8FN0

So now we know why #PS5 is gonna be delayed in India. Some Delhi guy has registered the PS5 trademark on his name before @sony_india. This is not a one time thing too, the same guy registered for #XboxSeriesX trademark too but he was denied.#ps5india

ARE YOU SERIOUS?
Sony India failed to secure PS5™ which is why we don’t have a fixed release date yet.
Hitesh Aswani filed for the PS5™ last year, months before Sony approached.
