Suraj Kumar Yadav, who is a murder accused and an undertrial prisoner in Nawada sub-jail cleared the IIT Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) and secured 54th rank at the national level, reported the Times Of India.

Yadav was lucky enough that the superintendent of the jail Abhishek Pandey motivated him to crack the exam while providing him with books and other necessary resources.

Pandey, like a guiding angel, arranged for special food for him and helped Suraj with the preparation. Moreover, the court also acknowledged his efforts and granted him a month’s parole to take the examination in New Delhi.

Prior to his and his brother’s arrest for their alleged involvement in the murder of their neighbor in Mosma village in the Nawada district, Bihar, Suraj was studying in Kota, Rajasthan for the entrance exam.

The coronavirus-induced lockdown compelled him to return to his native village where he was arrested for the alleged crime. He aspires to become a scientist and is hopeful to join IIT-Roorkee post his release.

We hope Suraj is able to make good of his life and is given the opportunities to realize his dreams. Kudos to him.
