Pre-Wedding Photoshoots Banned In Bhopal, MP Minister Says ‘It’s Against Our Culture’

Since the wedding season is here, there is one thing that has probably filled your entire social media feed – pre-wedding photoshoots. While pre-wedding photoshoot is the cheesiest wedding trend nowadays, couples seem to have added it into their to-do lists.

However, Jains, Gujaratis, and Sindhis in Bhopal have banned pre-wedding photoshoots altogether after allegedly receiving threats from community panchayats, reports India Today. There will no longer be pre-wedding photoshoots or videos in Bhopal.

In addition to this, they have also banned the use of male choreographers for ladies sangeet. The community panchayats have decided to boycott anyone who doesn’t adhere to the new rule. A circular mentioning the same has been distributed among the three communities.

“These things were certainly not a part of our culture. I believe that whatever people prohibits, it is from a social point of view. If people start following old trends and cultures again, their marriages will become more successful and joyful,” said Madhya Pradesh Public Relations Minister PC Sharma.

National General Secretary of Gujarati Samaj Sanjay Patel said, “Pre-wedding shoot is wrong. It has been felt that many marriages break even before they take off, so our executive body has decided to stop this tradition.”

Authorities also claimed that such practices were “obscene” and have a negative social impact.

It is downright ridiculous to impose such bans upon people, as pre-wedding shoots are clearly harmless. We hope that such restrictions don’t become a ‘thing’.
