The Pokémon GO obsession doesn’t seem to stop. People over the world are going crazy and turning up to Pokémon heavy zones in hundreds to catch ’em all.
But the most serious of all is Tom Currie from New Zealand, who has quit his job to focus on hunting and catching Pokémon full time.
“I wanted to have an adventure. I have been working for six years and I was desperate for a break. And Pokémon gave me the chance to live that dream.”
He’s just 24 years old, and he has quit his job in Auckland. Travelling around New Zealand, he has booked over 20 bus trips all over the country.
He said he has found rare Pokémon during his travels, some of which include Dragonair, Scyther, and Jynx. He has claimed to have collected 90 out of the 151 Pokémon released.
Currie has been travelling cheap, crashing on friend’s couches or in dormitories over the country. But he has been receiving support from all over the world, and transport companies have offered to sponsor him and take him to the inaccessible parts of the country he can’t travel to.
Tom says Pokémon GO has given people a purpose to step out and socialise, something which the smartphone age didn’t allow before.
He says,
We wish Tom the best of luck on his quest to be the very best, and hope he catches ’em all!
