Cupcakes, Cafes & Buses: Here’s A Look At The Cute Symbols On Parineeti Chopra’s Kaliras

Bollywood actor Parineeti Chopra recently tied the knot with politician Raghav Chadha at Leela Palace, Udaipur, amidst their friends and families. Just like every other celebrity wedding nowadays, their wedding was a private affair. Parineeti was dressed in a beige Manish Malhotra lehenga and accessorised her look with equally gorgeous jewellery. Raghav Chadha, on the other hand, wore an ivory-coloured attire by his designer uncle, Pawan Sachdeva.

Nowadays, Punjabi Bollywood brides are customising their ‘kaliras’ – the string of chains with ornamentations that are attached to the chooda or wedding bangles of the bride. The go-to kalira designer for celebrities is Mrinalini Chandra, who designed kaliras for Alia Bhatt, Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra, Athiya Shetty and many others. She believes that “every Kalira has a story” and designs them in a way that tells a story about the couple.

For Parineeti Chopra, she added symbols to the kaliras that play a major role in her and Raghav Chadha’s love story. Her kaliras had cupcakes, cafes, the London Eye, double-decker buses, the iconic red telephone booth of London, cake, airplanes, the Om and Ek Onkar symbols.

This is the original design for her kaliras:

Here is a closer look:

“The story of Parineeti & Raghav is truly a modern-day fairytale, the most organic and beautiful coming together of two worlds that are wide apart yet equally complex. She chose each and every element, ensuring that they symbolize her journey with Raghav in the most love-filled way. At first glance, the Kalira appears to be dainty ornaments cascading from the bangle. However, its true beauty lies in the underlying story it conveys—a tale of love. The design of these Kaliras is very special. Each motif represents a moment of serendipity, a chance encounter when their paths crossed in a cosmic dance,” Mrinalini Chandra wrote.

According to TOI, the two had first met at the prestigious India UK Achievers Honours in London, where they were also honoured with outstanding achievements in their respective fields. They seem to have spent a lot of time getting to know each other in London, and hence the symbols!

We wish the couple a happily ever after!
