People Share Opinions On Parents Asking Their Kids To Move Out At 18 To Make Them ‘Independent’

Pushing your kids to move out of the house, live on their own, get a job and become independent all at the age of 18 is predominantly a western concept. There, couples celebrate being “empty nesters”. In India, while this concept is still unthinkable in most parts, people are trying to adopt this practice to apparently help their kids “grow up”.

Mostly, people were of the opinion that it’s the worst thing that parents can do as 18-year-olds are still ‘kids’ and are vulnerable.

To expect them to survive on their own is unfair on so many levels.

It’s like they just want to get done with parenting.
