Paralympians Shaking Their Medal Is The New Trend And The World Needs To Know Why

We have heard stories of valor, courage, determination and will in Rio Paralympics 2016. The world is inspired by the stories of these great men and women who are at par at what they do, despite all odds.

We have witnessed the tradition of Olympic winners biting their medals to celebrate victory and now after the big win, Paralympians shaking their medals has become an observance.

2,500 medals that will be handed to the big winner have small tiny steel balls in them; they make a sound when shaken. Bronze has 16; silver medal has 20 and gold having 28 balls makes the loudest sound.

Look at the winners rejoicing on hearing the medals.
 

While conceiving the new medals for Rio Paralympics 2016, designers wanted to make sure that winners were able to do more than just feel the medal.

They were engraved in braille for the visually impaired to read, but that did not seem enough.
 

And then they came up with the groundbreaking idea. The winners Rio Paralympic 2016 should also be able to hear “the sound of victory”.

There is nothing as wonderful as the pleasure of winning and when the world should be able to hear the sound of them celebrating their victory.
