Union Minister Mahesh Sharma Suggests ‘No-Work-No-Pay’ Policy For A Better India

Can Indian political system be corrected?

There are a bunch of lazy bum who don’t work for the country but still get paid by the government. Just because of their sheer lack of political will, India stands where it is today.

The Minister of State for Civil Aviation Dr. Mahesh Sharma proposed the idea that ‘No work, No pay’ should be followed for the parliamentarians in the same way as is done for the labourers. The reason being demanding resignation and disruption parliament for weeks isn’t a democratic way at all.

The Monsoon Session of Parliament has hardly functioned since it was convened on July 21 as the Congress and other opposition parties have been pressing for the resignation of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje in connection with Lalit Modi travel papers controversy and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan over Vyapam scam.

Although, he went into a denial mode after his remarks triggered a debate, this will be a welcome step if the Government plans to introduce ‘No-Work-No Pay’ for MPs.

Good job Mahesh Sharma at least for raising the issue. Being sensitive to taxpayer money is truly the hallmark of honest leaders. The Parliament is not anybody’s personal property. It runs by the people’s money and it is the country’s property.

And this is how it works in every workplace. Why should there be an exception?
