Here Is Everything You Need To Know About ₹500, ₹2000 Notes That’ll Be Issued From Nov 10

In a drastic step aimed at reducing hoarding of black money, the Indian Government has decided to ban all currency notes bearing the denomination of ₹500 and ₹1000.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday dropped a bomb of a news, declaring ₹500 and ₹1000 currency notes illegal tender from November 9.

Although, it is a great step towards curbing corruption and financial terrorism in the longer run, people are sure to face some problems in the coming few days.

 

In a statement released today, Urjit Patel, the RBI Governor announced that the new notes would be in circulation from Thursday, November 10.

According to Economic Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das, the new series of ₹500 notes are named ‘Mahatma Gandhi series of bank notes’, carrying a picture of Delhi’s ‘Red Fort’ at the back.

Also, the ₹2000 rupee note will have an image of the ‘Mangalyaan’, celebrating India’s Mars orbital mission.

 

Finance Secretary, Mr. Ashok Lavasa took to Twitter to clear the air on the matter, which has baffled the entire nation. 

This transition may be a little difficult for the general public at the moment, but it is a firm and positive step taken by the Government of India and will certainly help the nation in the longer run.
