Mumbai Woman Cheats Death By Sleeping On The Tracks And Letting A Train Run Her Over!

More often than not, death-defying stunts belong in the movies when you watch the hero fly past an oncoming, and narrowly escaping death. However, should this happen in reality, people may not be so lucky. Or so you would think. A Mumbai woman got very lucky with just such a hair-raising adventure at the Thakurli station on the Central Line.

Kamal Mohan Shinde was making her way across the railway tracks when suddenly spotted a swiftly oncoming local train. Rather than step back, the 60-year-old panicked and flung herself horizontal in the middle of the tracks.

A resident of Khambalpada, Shinde was on her way to Mulund and chose a shortcut across the railway tracks instead of using the foot overbridge. The unfortunate incident took place on Monday around 1.30pm between platforms 2 and 1.

S Pawar, senior police inspector, Dombivli, GRP shed light on the incident. “The moment she came between the tracks, the commuters present on the platform alerted her about a local train. They kept shouting to alert her.”

“Commuters suggested her to lie down between the sleepers. However, the motorman too had realised that a commuter was standing between the track, hence he slowed down the speed of the local train,” he revealed.

Fortunately, she survived the horrifying accident. Her unlikely escape was caught on the CCTV footage. Take a look at the spine-chilling video-

“Two compartments of the Kalyan local ran over Shinde, who was lying down. However, as the speed of the local was slow, she escaped with hardly any major injuries, only minor scratches were noticed on her body,” added Pawar.

According to HT, the Dombivli GRP clarified that- “Shinde avoided taking FOB as she thought she would miss the CST train. As she was a senior citizen, the railway police didn’t register case against her or fine her. They informed her family members about the incident,” added Pawar.

While Kamal did manage to get very lucky, it is better to risk arriving late to your destination than not at all. As much as her saga chills us, we hope it cautions frequent travellers to make a safer journey.
