Amir is the son of Jalaluddin Shah, a welder and his mother Jannatunisha, is a house wife.

Amir is all set to be the country’s first male professional ballet dancer. Hailing from Mumbai’s Sanpada, he was discovered by Danceworx Academy of Performing Arts, Bandra after he secured a scholarship at the studio.

The Bandra studio offers scholarships to deserving students and in 2015, Amir with his incredible talent and hard work, danced his way to the scholarship.

While he started poring all his vigour in hip-hop, it was the International Ballet Master Yehuda Ma’or who saw Amir’s perfect waves and knew that this boy is born to be a ballet dancer. Ma’or, who personally taught him said –

“Amir could achieve great heights as a classical ballet dancer and be a major star. He has never pursued ballet as a dance form, but it’s remarkable how its language came to him so naturally.”

But Amir’s journey has just begun, there are more hurdles along the way. The boy’s humble parents can’t afford to pay for the New York school fees which is over 29 Lakhs.

Ma’or has started a GoFundMe page to help the kid.

Amir’s story is proof that those who dream make it through. Go Amir! We know you’ll make India proud by carving a mark for us, in the elegant world of ballet!
