The world is going to dogs! I’m sorry to be the one to do this, but the recent headlines of wrongdoings do not leave me with many options. If you do not believe me, just flip the pages of the day’s paper and you’d know what I’m talking about. In fact, the last time I checked, the news that flashed on my screen killed whatever little was left of my optimism.
Why you ask? Because a minor girl was kidnapped and dragged away in broad daylight just because the mighty man she was married off to, deemed it fit! And its an ordeal that doesn’t deserve any place in the 21st century, but alas…
According to DNA, a certain Aamad Khan reportedly got his minor daughter married to a man named Shaukat. However, the girl’s mother, Nemat, refused to let the daughter go till she attained 18 years of age.
And that was enough to irk the groom, who then took it upon himself to kidnap the minor against her consent and will. A horrifying video was captured by a bystander and it is nerve-chilling.Â
The report states that Shaukat reached the girl’s village along with a friend, Iliaas on September 11 after which he forcibly took the girl away on a tractor.
That wasn’t it. Before kidnapping the girl in broad daylight, the miscreants mercilessly hit and abused the opposing mother who tried to stop them.
The incident is of Kalu Khan Ki Dhani village of Bap tehsil in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur.
Needless to say, the video went viral on the social media, moments after it surfaced and the only good thing that emerged out of it is- the two have been arrested! The local police took quick steps to remand the men to judicial custody.

While the atrocity is a serious blow to women’s rights and safety in India, let’s hope that there be justice. And a speedy one at that. Otherwise, we should just stop proclaiming to be a part of a ‘progressive’ nation. PERIOD.
