Ant Like ‘Meat Eating’ Bugs Eat A Teen’s Leg After He Dipped Them At A Beach In Australia

James Reeve once mentioned in one of his poems, ‘The sea is a hungry dog.’ The meaning of the same can be noted as, how the sea absorbs everything. Today, the example I will give you will not only make you understand what James Reeve was trying to say but also look at this astonishing side of the sea.

Recently, an Australian teenager got bit by hundreds of meat eating bugs resulting in bloody legs.

Sam Kanizay, a 16-year-old teenager, decided to soak his legs at the Dendy Street Beach after a long football match. But, when Sam Kanizay was walking out from the water, he saw his legs covered in blood. Poor Sam could not understand how the mishap actually took place.

It was his father, Mr Jarrod Kanizay, who took the case in his hand and solved the mystery.

Sam’s father went to the same beach next day with a net to hunt for the cause of his son’s bloodshed. He set up the net with meat chunks and waited for the reaction. Jardon was successful, but what he caught in his net shocked the Marine researchers.

There were literally hundreds of bugs, trying to eat the chunks of meat. All of them were stuck to the meat and ate it as profusely as they could.

This is what Jarrod had to say about the bugs he caught in the net to Daily Mail.

“I caught some bugs overnight over in the bay. I’ve put meat into a net and they’ve grabbed on to that like no tomorrow. We’ve brought them home and they’ve just attached themselves to this meat. They’ve sucked the life out of it – all the blood. They’re mite type creatures. One would assume these are the bugs that have grabbed on to him in their thousands.”

Now those are some really interesting evil beings!

Surprisingly enough, Sam too could not realize that there were bugs all over his ankle and feet. The teenager reported having tingling sensations but thought that it could be possible because of the soreness he was feeling in his legs and the cold water.

Sam is currently in the hospital seeking treatment for his leg.

The hospital staff on being asked about the incident said,

‘As soon as we wiped them (his legs) down, they kept bleeding. There was a massive pool of blood on the floor (at the hospital)’

Sam is now fine as the bleeding has finally stopped and will be released on Monday.

Sam definitely won’t be going to the beach to take cold dips again and has decided to do it in a pool. However, he doesn’t plan on stopping to visit the beach altogether.

We hope that researchers and the doctors find out more information about these meat eating bugs/lice and develop a treatment that will avoid the excessive bleeding Sam had to go through, because no one in the hospital could figure out the reason behind it.

We wish the brave young boy a speedy recovery.
