What if someday you open your Facebook profile and find a eulogy there, declaring that you are dead? You would definitely be puzzled, and maybe even doubt your existence.
You might find it hard to believe, but Facebook actually declared about 2 million people dead on the 11th of November, including its founder Mark Zuckerberg.
A message appeared on top of the profile of people with whom this ‘hilariously unfortunate’ incident happened.
As it turned out, it was actually a bug that caused this message to appear on people’s profiles which Facebook later corrected and apologised for. A Facebook spokesperson told AFP,
“For a brief period, a message meant for memorialised profiles was mistakenly posted to other accounts. This was a terrible error that we have now fixed.”
The incident also attracted a lot of amusing comments on the social media.
