Stranger Saves Dog From Choking To Death After Its Leash Gets Stuck In An Elevator

It might be difficult, but one of the cardinal rules to follow if you have pets is to keep a solid eye on them ALL. THE. TIME! You never know what the furry balls are up to. A few seconds of distraction can lead to a disaster.

Speaking of which, one dog owner made a slight miscalculation while getting on an elevator which led to the dog’s leash getting stuck in between the sliding door. Thankfully, a stranger spotted the dog almost getting choked and saved it at the nick of time, reports NBC News.

The stranger, who saved the dog, took to Twitter to post a CCTV footage of the entire incident. It shows that a woman and the dog wait for an elevator. When it arrives, the woman enters first but the dog isn’t quick enough to enter and the elevator door shuts.

A stranger just at that moment spots the dog and its leash being dragged upwards. He runs, grabs the pet, pulls it down, and tried to break the leash. When that doesn’t work, he notices that the collar has a buckle and was eventually able to unclip the dog.

“It was super scary and all I was focused on was getting that leash off the dog,” he said.

The stranger said that he heard the owner screaming the entire time. When she finally reached the spot and found that her dog was okay, she fell on the floor, covered her face, and started bawling.

“There was nothing she could have done. She is new to the building so I think she wasn’t expecting it to shut so fast. I felt terrible for her. It was an honest mistake,” he told Fox News.

Even though the owner received a lot of hate online and many called her out for being “careless”, the stranger stressed on the fact that it was a mistake and could happen to anyone. However, he received a lot of praise for doing the right thing at the right time.
