If you think people do weird things for love, wait till you see those who lose their jobs! Landing a job in the first place is hard AF. Unless you have campus placements…then you’re sorted. But otherwise, it requires days of properly writing a resume, searching through zillions of company websites, sending out inquiries, going through rejections. It’s a tiring process.
Hence, god forbid if someone gets laid off. Going through the entire process again, this time with a broken heart and confidence, is worse. You know that most of your applications will end up being unread, probably inside a spam folder. So jugaad kya hai? Maybe this man’s out-of-the-box way of searching for a job will give you some inspiration.
A man from Arizona, who recently lost his job and was in search of one, was spotted distributing his resume in the middle of the street to random people. Holding a placard in his hands that read “Please take a resume. Laid off. Looking for a job”, he was seen handing out resumes to passers-by.
Speaking to sources, the man said:
“I had been searching for a job online, filling out applications and sending companies my resume. I was also stopping at local businesses handing my resume out. After not getting responses I decided I needed to do something different. The idea of standing on a corner holding a sign popped in my head. I at first laughed and thought that was silly, but I kept thinking about it. I figured, why not?! There are millions of people in Phoenix driving around, someone might hire me. So I printed out a whole bunch of resumes and hit the streets.”
A woman who spotted him took a picture of him and his resume and posted it on Twitter which soon got viral. What’s sweet is that she urged people to share her tweet so that it may help him get a job.
I was driving down Camelback Rd in Phx near my office and saw this guy on the side of the road with a smile in 110-degree heat, with a sign asking people to take his resume. I love that he was not asking for a handout, just for people to consider him for a job. #pleaseshare #job pic.twitter.com/5QAUpCkGWk

Not only did people wish him luck online, but soon the man started getting hundreds of calls and messages from people offering him a job!
His idea is great because the online job applications are a lazy way for employers to hire. If you don’t match the computer generated questions, the employer never sees your application! Face to face is the best but communication is quickly dying out. Your tweet helped!

“I was offered a bunch of positions, probably almost a hundred. I narrowed it down to this one and one more with a rigging company”, he said.
Things we do for a job!
