Abhishek Bachchan’s debut film ‘Refugee’ had him cross Gujarat’s Rann of Kutch to visit Kareena Kapoor Khan who lived on the order side of the border. While that plot was fictional, Deccan Herald reports that something similar actually happened in real life.
21-year-old engineering student Zeeshan Siddique from Maharashtra was caught by the Border Security Force trying to cross the border on foot and meet a Karachi-based woman he befriended on a social media platform.
Remember Refugee? @juniorbachchan would run across the Rann of Kutch regularly to meet his pakistani love kareena? Md Zishan thought he could do the same for Karachi based Samra. But kutch is harsh. Zishan was found dehydrated & unconscious by @BSF_India . He is now in custody pic.twitter.com/VSE3L3d9dE

Outlook India quoted Kutch-East Superintendent of Police Parikshita Rathod saying,
“Siddique was held by the BSF on Thursday night and later handed over to the local police. He is from Osmanabad town in Maharashtra. Police had issued an alert after a motorcycle with Maharashtra registration number was found abandoned near Dholavira village in the Rann of Kutch on Thursday evening. The BSF later nabbed the man when he was found walking towards the border in a bid to enter Pakistan.”
This is a case of life imitating art but not in the right way.
