According to Daily Mail, the man’s left arm swelled up incredibly to the extent of a golf ball, within twelve hours of having the fish. Along with the main blister which was extremely painful, a few blisters were also formed around. The infection could not be stopped even after using antibiotics to drain the blister and removing the infected tissue.

According to the report, it was a bacterial infection caused due to the consumption of raw seafood. It is to be noted that the 71-year-old was also suffering from a kidney disease that was almost at the end stage. Type-2 diabetes and high BP are just add-ons.

His hand picked up flesh-rotting ulcers which made the antibiotics ineffective on him. The doctors finally diagnosed that he was suffering from an infection called vibriosis and it is caused by the Vibrio vulnificus bacteria. The severe infection had to be stopped by amputating his affected hand.

Though the man is doing fine after the surgery, the loss is something he would regret all his life. Hence, be careful about what you consume.
