‘Dangal’ has broken many records, has received many nominations and awards. But most importantly, it has successfully shed light on the female wrestlers in our country. Not just that, it also encouraged more girls to come forward in the age-old sport – wrestling.
Remember the scene from Aamir Khan’s blockbuster ‘Dangal’ where he takes his daughter, Geeta Phogat, to wrestle with boys in a nearby village’s competition? Well, if you think that scene was only for the big screen, maybe this will change your mind.
A 2-minute video of a young girl from Maharashtra engaging in a real ‘dangal’ with a boy is making the rounds of the interweb. Just looking at it makes you want to say “Ab dangal hoga!” Take a look.

As can be seen in the video, the girl fights fiercely and gives it her best. It doesn’t take her long to pin down the boy and win the first round. This just goes on to show that women can be as strong, if not more, as the men too.
The video is receiving a lot of praise and support. The girl is being commended for her bravery and people are even rooting for her to win the match.

Wrestling, popularly and traditionally known as ‘dangal’, has been an old sport in our country. Men engaged in this sport to remain fit and maintain their health. Women, however, have been underrepresented in this sport, even though they have caught up with their men counterparts.
So it is really good to see young girls and women receiving this kind of motivation and support to pursue the sport.
