Mainstream news has become rather monotonous these days, hasn’t it? It’s the same dispiriting news every day. Just different variations of “Yep, we’ve screwed up again, congrats!” Tuning it all out isn’t a viable option either. If not for anything else, at least to make sure that our political leaders haven’t pulled some stunt that will cost us the roof above our heads.
But, how do you stop yourself from being in a constant state of “Aaaaaahhhh!” in such an environment? The key, my friends, is humour. The capability to find the mirth in any apocalyptic situation can take you a long way.
And this reporter from Lahore has fully embraced that trick.
Yep, that is a pink kiddy pool he is sitting in. But, no he’s not at a pool party. Well, not technically.
Following heavy rainfall, Lahore roads have pretty much started to moonlight as pop-up water streams. Capitalising on this development, this reporter for Dunya News went all out. Literally.
Rocking a whole new level of passive-aggressiveness, the reporter takes a few digs at the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) of Lahore for failing to drain the water, saying:
“Galli mohallom mein logon ke pool toh ban chuke hai, toh vo yeh waterpool lekar usme enjoy kare. Kyun ki unka paani jaldi toh khatam hona wala nahi hai, kyun ke wasa ke machinein joh hai, naakam nazar aa rahi hai.”
Burn!!!
His savage report, which was shared on Friday, has since gone viral with over 56000 views on Facebook alone.
