For some reason, humans continue to be both progressive and regressive in nature. On one side, we boast about our technological advancements and modern vehicles. And on the other side, we use horses to travel on asphalt roads and capture elephants to “worship” them. However, the actual problem arises when we begin to treat these animals like we treat our bikes and cars.
Animal lover and Twitter user @pramodchandrase posted a heartbreaking video of a man beating an elephant till it fell to the ground.

“Karnan, the gentle giant, once a temple elephant, being mercilessly beaten up in Thrissur, Kerala.”
This is not the first time India has been criticised for mistreating elephants. One Green Planet had reported about the gruelling head-lifting competitions that elephants were subjected to and petitioned to stop it.
Netizens were absolutely furious to see the sight of the elephant writhing on the ground and requested animal-protection agencies to step in.

Nothing, neither logic nor reason, can justify this torture. These guys must be severely punished by the law.

Thankfully, the Voice for Asian Elephants Society came to the rescue and reported that the trainers had been fired.
@vfaes_org has investigated this story. Our founder has filed a complaint against owners & mahouts. A Case was booked by Trissur district forest officers. Mahouts were fired. The elephant has been transferred to Palakkad district, & is being monitored closely by the forest dept.

People who partake in animal cruelty are too far gone. So, there’s no point in trying to educate them what’s wrong about what they’re doing. However, since there are multiple animal protection organisations in and around, it’s better to record and report these incidents.
