Once a promising actor in the Hindi Film Industry, Randhir Kapoor experienced a significant slump in the later years of his acting career. Even though he enjoyed tremendous success through films like Jeet and Kal Aaj Aur Kal, he gradually faded as new talents emerged.
Kareena Kapoor, in an interview, spoke about this phase of father Randhir Kapoor’s career and how it affected their family. She revealed that her mother Babita always pushed her to earn her own money, even before she became an actor.

“I don’t really remember whether money was important growing up, but it was always important to get nice clothes. But I wasn’t working and my mom kept telling me to get a job. She told me prepare myself if I want to be an actor and take on the challenge. ‘When you become an actor have your money,’ she told me,” Indian Express quoted her saying.
She further shared that when she was young, her family prioritised bare necessities and that even today, her mother Babita, who herself came from a humble background, keeps her in check.
“She has always told me to stand on my feet and that I can’t rely on my parents. Even in my teens, it was about bare necessities, basics. That’s how mom was, she came from a humble background. Till today she keeps us in check.”

When Randhir Kapoor wasn’t getting much work, it was Babita who had to figure out how to make ends meet.
“I was too young, he didn’t work as much and maybe that’s why my mom had to take on stuff and figure out odds and ends to bring up the girls till Karisma came into the movies,” Kareena Kapoor said.
Life is filled with ups and downs. If one has a supportive family, then the difficulties are overcome with ease.
