If I Am Not The Hero In A Film, It’ll Disappoint Everyone: Kangana WON’T Work With A Khan

In an industry where the Khans rule, there is a Kangana that stands out.

No other actress, in no other scenario, can go ahead and actually say that she is not really interested in working with a Khan.

But Kangana sure can. In a recent interview with Rajeev Masand, she openly said that she would never want to work with any of the three Khans – Salman, Aamir or SRK.

“In fact, there is no longevity with working with Khans. It’s the other way around. Where would it take me? Can it take me a notch higher than where I already am? It cannot! What can it give me that I have already not achieved? I can’t see a single thing…if you can tell me.”

This might surprise most of us because who would not want a movie with any of the Khans?! It’s good for your career – they might recommend you for subsequent movies. You share the screen with three of the most successful actors in Bollywood’s history.

But according to Kangana, there are downsides to working with the 3 Khans.

 

She believes that there is no longevity in working with the Khans and it would not help her career in any way. She also explained how the Khans would dominate every scene in the movie.

“When I have done and am working on films that give me the possibility of building a brand of my own individually, it will be very stupid of me to go and stand behind someone else and try and en-cash their popularity.”

Which actually sounds very sensible. Kangana already has a brand of her own. She has carved a niche out for herself. And from the looks of it, she does not want to work with the Khans just to exploit them for popularity.

 

She also cleared it up that she has no hard feelings towards the trio. Or any attitude problem for that matter. She shares a good equation with Aamir and is a huge fan of SRK, but her decision is strictly professional.

“Until Queen, I was very open to working the Khans. After Tanu Weds Manu, I realised that if in a film, I am not the hero, it will disappoint everyone.”

All the controversies aside, it is impressive that Kangana can come out and say confidently that she does not want to star with a Khan.

And she is quite right. She is a national award winner and has gotten widespread critical acclaim. Even from a non-believer like Karan Johar, who never could spot the potential she had when she first came into the industry.

And if she really feels like she should be the hero of every movie she stars in, it could be a start of a good trend in Bollywood where women can play central characters successfully.
