Kangana Ranaut Calls For A Boycott Of Oscars & Grammys, Calls Them ‘Snooty’ & ‘Biased’

The 94th Academy Awards and the 64th Annual Grammy Awards were held recently and several Indians online were disappointed. Why? Because none of them paid tribute to the late Lata Mangeshkar. Even though a tribute was paid to the Nightingale of India at the New York Times Square shortly after she passed away, many questioned why the Oscars and the Grammys, which claim to be global, didn’t pay their respects to the legendary artist.

Hence, Kangana Ranaut called for a boycott of the Oscars and the Grammys.

“We should boycott these snooty western awards,” the actor wrote on Instagram.

She further went on to add that people should take “strong stands” against awards that “ignore and intentionally sideline” legendary artists “because of their race”.

“We must take strong stands against any local awards who claim to be international and yet ignore and intentionally sideline legendary artists because of their race or ideologies… both Oscar and Grammy failed to give tribute to Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar Ji… our media should totally boycott these biased local events who claim to be global awards.”

Have a look at her stories here:

According to The Indian Express, the Grammy awards omitted the late Lata Mangeshkar from the In Memoriam section during the ceremony which paid a tribute to the late Broadway composer Stephen Sondheim, Taylor Hawkins and Tom Parker. However, Lata Ji and the late Bappi Lahiri did get mentioned on the Grammys website.

On the other hand, The Academy failed to mention the Late Dilip Kumar in its In Memorian section. These incidents were particularly noticeable as previously, the Academy paid tribute to the late Irrfan Khan, Sushant Singh Rajput and Rishi Kapoor.
