19 Year Old Student Slices TONGUE Off To Appease Kaali Ma To Grant Her Wishes!

Superstition.

People who believe in things that seem out of the realms of logic are called superstitious. These superstitions can range from a black cat to killing oneself. Most people who gravitate towards such activities are those who never ventured for answers but asked for quick and dangerous solutions for their problems, most of them are illiterate. But what happens when the literate hold beliefs close to their hearts that go against them?

Aarti Dubey, an undergraduate student at TRS College in Madhya Pradesh, made an extreme sacrifice by cutting off her tongue after she dreamt that Kaali, the ferocious female deity had demanded her tongue in exchange for granting all her wishes.

This happened in the Kaali Temple in Reeva, Madhya pradesh.

Her brother Sachin, shocked at what she did, said he knew about what she dreamt but never expected her to act on it.

“I have heard about incidents of illiterate and superstitious people offering their body parts to appease the gods. I never thought that my own college-going sister could be so superstitious.”

Aarti fell unconscious immediately after slicing her tongue off. However, the priests and people surrounding her, prayed for her well being instead of summoning a doctor.

Much to the surprise of the onlookers and devotees, Aarti got up and finished the rest of the rituals with a faint smile on her face.

As the news of the incident spread, the police and doctors made their way to her and gave her first aid. But what concerns them is much more serious than this.

Shyam Mishra, a local journalist said,

“There have been incidents of people offering their organs to the gods, expecting to get their wishes granted by the supreme power. What is startling in this case is the girl in question is educated. Illiterate people are bound to be superstitious, but when educated people become superstitious it does not bode well for the society as a whole.”

This idea of this kind of fanatism is scary.
