Time and again, you’ll stumble upon various quotes and endless online forums and books that state – Follow your passion. But what does it actually mean? It’s the fire inside your soul that says no matter what happens, no matter how far you seem to be away from where you want to be, your unrelenting belief will help you achieve it.
Because only when you’re passionate, you discover a pursuit that absorbs you, frees you, challenges you and gives you a sense of meaning and joy.
There are many Bollywood movies that’ll give you the aforementioned feeling and the inspiration to chase what you love. Here are some of them:
1. Wake Up Sid
A spoiled young adult living in Mumbai experiences a change in his outlook towards life when a driven and ambitious writer inspires him to ‘wake up’ and follow his dreams.
2. Chak De India
A hockey player who has lost his honor and dignity coaches the national women hockey team. And he manages to salvage his reputation when the team wins the World Cup, an achievement which seemed next to impossible.
3. ABCD
A story about street dancers who surpass many hurdles, their economic and social conditions, to become national level dance champions.
4. Rock On
This is one of my favorites. A story about 4 friends who relive their glorious moments when their rock band Magic is finally formed after estranged relationships and problems.
5. 3 Idiots
Two friends revisit their college days and recall the memories of their one friend who inspired them to think unconventionally and follow what they actually believe in.
6. Sarfarosh
A young medical student joins the Indian Police Service to kill terrorists after his brother and father are injured ruthlessly by terrorist attacks.
7. Guru
A villager, Gurukant Desai, comes to Bombay to try his luck in business. And he ends up being the most successful business tycoon in the country. A power packed performance by Abhishek Bachchan, indeed!
8. Rocket Singh
A story about a fresh graduate, who despite scoring less in exams never stops dreaming of becoming the Salesman of the year and ends up being one.
9. Iqbal
Under the tutelage of an alcoholic ex cricket player, a deaf and mute son of a farmer overcomes the hurdles and fulfills his passion of playing for the Indian cricket team.
10. Band Baaja Baarat
A story of two young individuals who follow their dream of becoming a successful wedding planner firm.
11. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani
This film shows a young man following his dreams. He leaves everything behind and becomes successful. But he realizes that friends and family are equally important.
12. Mary Kom
Being a Priyanka Chopra fan, I love this movie. This is the story of the legend Mary Kom and how she overcame the hurdles of married life and how she didn’t let that overshadow her career.
13. Hawa Hawai
The film revolves around a kid’s journey to become a champion skater.
14. Swades
This movie revolves around a guy who is a scientist and comes back to his village to solve the electricity crisis. His relentless spirit to change things will inspire you to no end.
15. Fashion
Again, Priyanka Chopra will stun you with her performance and make you believe that your dreams can be achieved. You may deviate from the path, but always remember to stand up and work towards your goal.
16. Bhaag Milkha Bhaag
The story of Milkha Singh, who surpasses the hurdles in his life and goes on to become a legend. It proved that you cannot become a winner by adopting a cheap way; you have to pay a heavy price.
