Trump Supporters Abuse Indian CEO For Opposing, And He Goes Public With The Hate Mails

The whole world protested against the Charlottesville incident when hundreds of white supremacists, openly propagating white supremacy, clashed with counter-demonstrators on the streets of Charlottesville. The emotion was strong with people condemning racism and praising Barack Obama for his empathetic stand on the incident.

However, in an unfortunate turn of events, an Indian CEO, Ravin Gandhi was subjected to blatant racism and abuse when he wrote an opinion editorial for CNBC saying that he does not condone President Donald Trump’s stand on the Charlottesville incident.

He also wrote that he would not support the President’s economic agenda because he appeared to be defending the white supermacists and neo-nazis in the incident without addressing the issue.

Soon after the editorial was published, Gandhi started receiving hate comments and racial abuses for his stand, including a minute and a half voicemail by a woman using inappropriate language and hurling racial abuses at him.

“The woman is heard saying statements like “get your fucking garbage and go back to India.” “go clean up your own fucking country, it’s a filthy mess.”

She also targeted Nikki Haley, the US Envoy to the UN and said,

“She’s (Haley) the one that started all this when she took down the Confederate flag. So don’t tell us that you gave him a chance. We don’t give a fuck who you gave a chance, OK? We’re going to start taking down Buddhist statues and see how you and Nikki Haley like that.”

He went public with the hate mail, and posted it to YouTube, Twitter and Facebook, which was full of threatening messages like this:

His main motivation for his actions was debunking the opinion that he was in a safe position because of his profession. He said,

“I wanted to show people that racism is blind to socioeconomics. It just is. Even though my race is a complete non-issue in my day-to-day life, the sad reality is there’s a group of racists in the USA that views me as a second-class citizen.”

He wants to spread awareness about the racism in the US, which is still prevalent and about people who are still suffering because of it. He further adds, that he will continue to speak against abuse as long as he has the platform to do so.

Racism continues to thrive even after people have actively participated to eradicate it. Human beings, as a species have failed to evolve and to accept people’s opinions. We need to stand together with people like Ravin Gandhi to defeat these social evils.
