Idris Elba & Kristofer Hivju Diagnosed With Covid-19, Tom Hanks & Rita Wilson Discharged

To combat the novel coronavirus, Italy, France, and Spain have gone into partial lockdown. Many other countries (including India) have suspended tourist visas and imposed travel restrictions to contain the infection. With fatalities steadily increasing, social distancing has become a necessity.

Yesterday, 47-year-old ‘Pacific Rim’ actor Idris Elba confirmed that he’d been in contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19 and his results came back positive as well, reports CNN.

The Economic Times reports that 41-year-old Norwegian star Kristofer Hivju, best known for playing Tormund Giantsbane in ‘Game of Thrones’, has also been infected. He was quoted saying, “We are in good health – I only have mild symptoms of a cold.”

According to India Today, ‘Quantum of Solace’ actress Olga Kurylenko has also tested positive for the novel coronavirus and is currently in home quarantine with symptoms of fever and fatigue.

However, Rita Wilson and her husband Tom Hanks who got infected while in Australia for work, have been discharged from the hospital, reports BBC. The couple is in self-isolation in Queensland.

Closer home, Dilip Kumar and wife Saira Banu have self-quarantined themselves as a precautionary measure. Furthermore, the Archeological Survey of India has announced that nearly 3,700 monuments, historical sites, and central museums under its purview will remain shut until March 31.

Working from home (if possible), keeping away from mass gatherings and avoiding public transport will reduce the risk of catching the infection. Better safe than sorry, don’t you think?
