Ex-Indian Hockey Players Are Happy To Be In Charge Of Security At T20 World Cup At Mohali

In a nation where people have hooked themselves onto a television screen rooting for India’s victory, where Sachin Tendulkar is not just a legendary sportsman but God, in a Country where galli cricket is a way of life, our national sport has never been given it’s due glory.

And today.

Our National Sport is contributing to Cricket! Some of our leading Hockey players are in charge of security during World T20 in Mohali this year.

Rajpal Singh, the captain of the Indian Hockey Team in 2011, who led the team to several victories on an international platform has been posted as DSP (Traffic) in Maholi. Another such shinning star, Gagan Singh who’s served as a dedicated Hockey player in the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games.

A number of Arjun awardees have been performing duties at the PCA, including ex players and former politicians.

It’s quite unusual to see players, who were clad in blue, putting everything to win a trophy for their nation, being transformed into a role which makes them responsible for security of the cricket teams.

But our spirited Hockey players are all in

According to an interview Gagan Singh said, “It’s always an honour to don the uniform. First we were serving the country as sportspersons, now we are serving the nation through the police force. I joined the police force in 2007. Doing duty in uniform is always a special feeling.”

Rajpal Singh shows how it is impossible to take national pride and team spirit out of a player

He say, “I can say one thing that only the colour of uniform has changed. First we used to turn out for our country wearing blues and now we are dressed in the khakis. But job remains the same, which is to serve the nation. The spirit remains the same, only field has changed.”
Well, we wish you the best for the Pakistan vs New Zealand match, because indeed if a soul like that is serving the nation, we feel safe and proud already.
