On November 15, Virat Kohli scored his 50th ODI century during the India versus New Zealand match and broke the record that was previously set by Sachin Tendulkar. The country was celebrating this remarkable feat as Kohli once again became truly deserving of the term ‘King’.
But did you know, back in 2012, there was a guy named Shiju Balanandan who had predicted that Virat Kohli would one day break Sachin Tendulkar’s record of ODI centuries?
Shiju kept counting till Virat’s 35th century. But then, one year, he passed away. And since then, Shiju’s friends have been keeping count!
Screenshots of Shiju Balanandan’s post and the comments section were shared on X by a user named Joy Bhattacharjya.
“His friends continued the count. And yesterday, Shiju got there!” he wrote.
About sport, and us.
In July 2022, after Virat got his 12th ODI century, Shiju Balandan predicted on FB that his idol would get to 50. He kept updating on his post till Virat's 33rd. And then Shiju left us.
