14 YO Kid Signs A ₹5 Cr Deal With Gujarat Govt For Production Of His DRONES. That’s Right!

When most of us were 14 years of age, we were busy playing with toys, watching cartoons and had no worry in the world. I couldn’t even differentiate between a turtle and a tortoise at that age and I definitely had no idea about infrared technology and workings of radar and landmines. I don’t know if I was too dumb, but kids nowadays are definitely too smart.

Harshwardhan Zala, a 14-year-old student from Bapunagar, Ahmedabad has signed a ₹5 Crore Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Gujarat for the production of a drone designed by him. The drone would be able to detect and defuse land mines on battlegrounds.

The deal was signed with the Department of Science and Technology of the state government at the ‘Vibrant Gujarat’ summit.

Zala, a class 10 student has created three prototypes of the drone. He has even patented the drone and set up a company named ‘Aerobotics’. Elaborating its specifications, the student said that the drone would carry a 50gm bomb to explode the landmine.

“The drone has been equipped with infrared, RGB sensor and thermal meter along with a 21-megapixel camera with a mechanical shutter that can take high resolution pictures as well.”

Zala said that he was inspired when he saw soldiers getting injured while defusing landmines and got the idea for patenting and producing his device during a visit to the Google headquarters in USA.

“The inspiration struck when I was watching television and learned that a large number of soldiers succumb to injuries sustained due to landmine blasts while defusing them manually.”

The Class 10 student said that he has always been encouraged by his parents to pursue his interests. They even shelled out ₹2 lakhs for him to make the first two prototypes.

For a teenage kid to achieve a feat like this is no less than a matter of pride for the entire nation. Harshwardhan’s talent, hard work and his parents’ support has reaped a fruitful result and we wish him all the success in his future endeavours.
