Google’s Self-Driving Car Was Pulled Over By Cops For Being ‘Too Slow’

Recently, a small car got pulled over on the roads of Northern California for going too slow. But, there was a slight twist. It had no driver!

One of the Google’s self-driving cars which were being tested on the roads of Mountain View in California was pulled over by a cop for going too slow. Although, no ticket was issued for this instance.

But, in any case, Google has assured the public that the self-driving cars are very safe and Google itself will foot the bill if any car breaks laws.

Google took the whole ‘pulling over’ incident in a positive stride and explained that the speed limit of their self-driving cars is only 25 mph for safety reasons.

“Like this officer, people sometimes flag us down when they want to know more about our project. After 1.2 million miles of autonomous driving (that’s the human equivalent of 90 years of driving experience), we’re proud to say we’ve never been ticketed!” Google said.

No self-driving cars are ticketed till now as the California laws are unsure about the new technology. The law states that the ticket should go to the person in the driver’s seat. Although, in this case, there is no driver.

The Mountain View Police Department said that it meets with Google regularly to ensure the safety limits of the communities they are tested in.

As per the statement given by the police, the Google car in the first photo was self-driving legally in a 35 mph zone.

Let’s hope that Google and California Police Department land on a conclusive ground which will stop these tiny self-driving cars from getting pulled over for being too slow. :p
