15 Famous Negative Characters From Movies That Actually Turned Out To Be Good People

Sometimes bad people do come out of the dark pits of good deeds and redeem themselves. Because such is human behavior. One cannot be completely black or white. We hover in the grey area between the two extremities and try to be good most of the times.

The same is true for movies and in rare occasions there have been characters who elicited deep hatred from us for being the worst villains. And then they take a complete U-turn and turns out they still have some good left in them yet.

1. Bindiya Naik from Chak De India

She really annoyed the crap out of Kabir Khan and us at the same time. Her “seniority” game really didn’t really turn out to be productive for the team. But in the end she does see the big picture and turn out to be good and lead the team to a victory.

 

2. Lakha from Lagaan

The audience raged when he betrayed our fictional pre-independence team. But he did realize what he had done and stunned the British by becoming good.

 

3. Mika in Singh is Kinng

He gives up evil after he sees good in people. Although not strictly a serious movie, it demonstrates that even villain hearts can melt in the face of good behaviour.

He fell in love and love changed him. Love made him leave thievery and settle down.

 

5. Guru Pratap Singh in Ek Villain

He falls in love with the female lead and becomes a good guy in turn.

 

6. Veeru Sahasrabuddhe from 3 idiots

It is hard to believe that the same Virus who didn’t give two damns about a suicide turns out to be a good person in the end, when he becomes a grandfather.

 

7. Captain Louis Renault in Casablanca

A corrupt cop who made all the cash by extorting the poor refugees fleeing the Nazis, he won our hearts by helping the leading lady get away.

 

8. Darth Vader in Star Wars

One of the biggest surprises in Movie history, Darth Vader finally redeems himself by eliminating Darth Sidious and cutting off the chain of Master-disciple of the dark side.

Love transforms King Kong from a savage beast who ate humans to a loving bumbling fool. No wonder we cried when he died.

She betrayed Batman. Batman’s back is broken as a result and Gotham is drowned in chaos. But she turns out to be good when she rescues Batman from being killed.

 

14. Danny Archer from The Blood Diamond

The selfish smuggler finds humanity in himself when he strikes an unlikely friendship with Solomon and rescues him from the civil war that is ravaging the whole of Africa.

 

15. Severus Snape in Harry Potter

Probably the biggest disappointment of all -because we really wanted Snape to die. He generated so much hatred inside us for all the years we were growing up. Then came the whopper – it was because of his efforts Voldemort could finally die.

And like all the villains it was love that transformed him into a better person.
