In a country that houses more than 130 crore people coming from varied social and economic backgrounds, having different mindsets and needs, it is difficult to create a society that is devoid of people indulging in unfair practices and committing crimes.
However, we can always take care of ourselves by gearing up to fight these miscreants. Earlier, a woman experienced in martial arts fought her molester in Tamil Nadu.
Now, a brave girl from Jalandhar was filmed fighting off two bike-borne criminals trying to snatch her mobile phone. According to a report published by News18, the 15-year-old girl named Kusum Kumari hailing from Fatehpuri Mohalla was walking home when two men on a bike attempted to snatch her phone.
Narrating the incident to Tribune, Kusum said, “I was going home when two bike-borne men attempted to snatch my mobile phone. The accused sitting on the pillion seat grabbed my hand and took my phone. However, I resisted and held his hand. Following which I followed them on their bike and grabbed the pillion rider’s t-shirt. He later hit me and attacked my wrist with a datar (a sharp weapon). But I continued to follow him and later dragged him from his bike. A few minutes later passersby rescued me and held the snatcher. I got my phone later.”
The teenager’s act of courage was caught on CCTV and widely shared on social media.
People online were impressed with the exemplary courage shown by the girl. Here’s how they reacted:
Courages girl.. timely response from the neighborhood. But really bad thing that these things happen in punjab, previously suresh raina's family incident and now this.. state government should really act strict.

Kusum was soon admitted to a nearby hospital and the accused, identified as Avinash Kumar,22, was arrested by the cops. However, his aid on the bike is absconding. A case under Sections 389 B and 307 (attempt to murder) of IPC has been registered against him.
We are proud of women like Kusum who decide to fight for their own safety. Also, kudos to the residents who sprung into action and rushed to her aid.
